(SPOT.ph) Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino has been commissioned to create costumes for Grammy winner Cee Lo Green’s new music video for the track "I Want You." Famous for his hit song "F*** You," Green told Tolentino to make the pieces as outrageous as he can, the designer told ABS-CBN News.
Tolentino designed a robin egg blue suit accented with embroidery and Swarovski crystals, with a fur-like overcoat made of raw silk cocoon from Aklan, reports ABS-CBN News. He also designed a vibrant red suit with a Liberace-inspired cape made of peacock fabric and gold embroidery. Both were sewn and embroidered in the Philippines using local materials.
"With an artist like Cee Lo, he does a lot of movement so I made sure na tamang-tama ang fit (that the clothes fit him perfectly)," Tolentino said. He also created a few dresses for model Ivey Mansel who plays a princess in the video.
He told ABS-CBN News that it was Green’s stylist who approached him for the project. "There are only a few people who can do these outrageous costumes. Tsaka ang motif nila ay Liberace so kailangan talaga ng very detailed embellishments sa costumes ni Cee Lo (The costumes need to have very detailed embellishments because of the Liberace theme)."
