(SPOT.ph) Two Filipino-American actors are part of Walt Disney Pictures’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opening this month in the Philippines, according to a statement on PEP.ph.
Daphne Joy plays a mermaid while Michael Ilano Rosales plays a pirate aboard the ship Queen Anne’s Revenge. Directed by Rob Marshall, the fourth installment of the Pirates series finds Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) forced to board the ship by the enigmatic Angelica (Penelope Cruz).
Joy, who was born and raised in Olongapo and is now based in Los Angeles, has appeared in the movie Just Go With It and on TV shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Minds and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
As for Rosales, Pirates was his first acting audition and he booked the part of a pirate from the Philippines, according to the statement. Based in Hawaii, he is also a hip-hop artist who goes by the name Mic3-Mic. He released his first full-length album, Respect My Pride, in 2008.
