Malacañang to CBCP: "The President is not the enemy;" Catholic Church declares May 9 National Day of Prayer against RH Bill
(SPOT.ph) Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte told radio dzRB yesterday, "We are not the enemy here. The President is not the enemy here," reports PhilStar.com. According to the report, Valte was referring to the Catholic Church’s criticisms directed to President Noynoy Aquino in connection to his support for the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Church has declared May 9 a National Day of Prayer against the RH Bill, reports Inquirer.net. Referring to the pro-RH Bill legislators, Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles told Radio Veritas, "Let us offer our prayers for them so that their minds will be enlightened and they will see the value of life."
Inquirer.net reports that Butuan Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos has directed the priests in his diocese to urge Catholics to mark the day by wearing blue or white shirts or ribbons. His diocese will also spearhead a protest and prayer vigil against the RH Bill today. "I will call on my people to do this. Let’s storm heaven with prayers."
