Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men

AP report

( Actor and TV host Ashton Kutcher will replace Charlie Sheen in the popular sitcom Two and a Half Men, CBS and Warner Bros. Television announced last week, reports the AP. Kutcher will be playing a new character, not Sheen’s Charlie Harper, when the show returns in the fall.

Kutcher said he believes that "we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers’ homes. I can’t replace Charlie Sheen but I’m going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people." According to the AP, Kutcher is not as popular as Sheen but he is 12 years younger and has a huge following, with over 6.7 million followers on Twitter.

Sheen, who was fired from the show after lashing out against the show producers including executive producer and creator Chuck Lorre, said, "Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer... Oh, wait, so am I." The AP reports that Sheen used TV lingo to predict that the revamped show will not rate as well as the original series did.

Meanwhile, Lorre said, "We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family... Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together. If I was any happier, it’d be illegal."
