Justin Bieber, Eminem dominate Billboard Music Awards

(SPOT.ph) After a four-year hiatus, the Billboard Music Awards is back, and this time led by top artists Justin Bieber and Eminem who took home on May 22 six awards a piece, reports Reuters.


The awestruck Bieber who beat singer Bruno Mars and rapper Nicki Minaj for Best New Artist said in the article, "I’m 17... everyday is crazy to me because I see so many people and I get to make so many smile."


At the start of the ceremony,the industry’s biggest stars walked along the MGM Grand Garden Arena, led by BMA big winner Justin Bieber. The Canadian pop star was the choice for pop album, social artist, streaming, streaming artist. Bieber was also recognized as the Digital Artist of the Year-his record-breaking Baby song had over half a billion YouTube views.


Eminem, who was noticeably absent, was billed as top artist, top rap artist and top male artist. His comeback album Recovery won top rap album and top Billboard 200 album while its second single Love the Way You Lie featuring R&B singer Rhianna nabbed top rap song.


Other winners included Rhianna, who won three awards, and Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.


The awards, with eligibility from Feb 28 last year to March 1 this year, were based on multiple factors including chart performance, album and single digital sales, touring and streaming and popularity on social media sites, reports Reuters.
