Tony Leviste had no appointment that day, says dentist
(SPOT.ph) Convicted ex-governor Antonio "Tony" Leviste, who covered up his out-of-prison excursion on May 18 with a dentist appointment, is in even hotter water after his dentist confirmed that they had not met up that day, reports GMA News.
"Wala po siyang record sa amin dito na magpapa-check-up siya nung araw na iyon (We have no record that he has a scheduled appointment that day)," said Florenda Yu to GMA News. Yu is the secretary of Leviste’s dentist, Dr. Carlo Pio Tripon, of the Tripon Dental Center on Arnaiz Avenue in Makati City,
In an ABS-CBN story, Tripon mentioned that every time Leviste visited his clinic, he talks to escorts from the Bureau of Corrections. The dentist has only seen Leviste twice since September.
However, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, who has made known in previous reports that she found the dental exuse "flimsy," said that the excursion was illegal either way since she did not issue Leviste any permit, according to ABS-CBN News.
Since being caught in the LPL Building, Leviste has been moved from minimum to maximim security facility in the National Bilibid Prison and was charged with evasion of service of sentence. The LPL Building, noted ABS-CBN, is also where Leviste had murdered friend and aide Rafael de las Alas.
