P-Noy’s P2M budget for Brunei state visit lowest yet since FVR
(SPOT.ph) President Noynoy Aquino and his 55-man delegation’s two-day state visit to Brunei Darrusalam costs only P2 million-the lowest cost yet since the time of President Fidel V. Ramos, reports ABS-CBN News. The bill, according to Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., also covered food, supplies, communications and other requirements.
Aquino left for Brunei Darrusalam this morning, June 2, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo, and Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Hermino Colomo Jr. Brunei’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkia welcomed Aquino at his palace with full royal rites, complete with Brunei ministers and diplomats.
In his departure speech, Aquino said his visit is aimed at attracting investors to the Philippines and enhancing cooperation in dealing with calamities and transnational crimes, reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Aquino will also extend his gratitude for Brunei’s role in peace talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
