The Star’s Ricky Lo clarifies rumors about Taylor Lautner's supposed Bench endorsement

( After entertainment writer Ricky Lo announced in his Funfare column yesterday, June 14, that clothing giant Bench was hiring Taylor Lautner of Twilight fame to endorse its products, he clarified in his column today that his source for the news did not come from Bench but from "Funfare Update’s deeply embedded source." "The story didn't say that there was any negotiation at all," he wrote.

PR executive Joyce Ramirez, who handles rival brand Penshoppe, dismissed Lo’s news yesterday as "fake" in a phone interview with ABS-CBN News. "It doesn't exist. There's no authorization from the US agency. It's illegal to use the name of an international artist without endorsement contracts," said Ramirez of PR Asia Worldwide.

In an interview with, Ramirez also said, "[Taylor’s] lawyers are now discussing all probable legal rights they have against the brand who used Mr. Lautner’s name for the free publicity." The rumor circulated after Penshoppe endorser Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick came to the Philippines.
