Ricky Rivero’s attacker may face frustrated murder and theft charges
(SPOT.ph) Hans Ivan Ruiz, 22, the suspect in the stabbing of Mula sa Puso director Ricardo "Ricky" Rivero on June 13, may be charged with frustrated murder and theft based on the evidence gathered by the authorities, reports ABS-CBN News.
Quezon City assistant prosecutor Noel Mingao held the inquest proceedings at St. Luke's Medical Center where Rivero is currently recovering. There, Rivero confirmed that Ruiz attacked him and stole his bag. Earlier reports also mentioned that the authorities discovered the knife Ruiz used to stab Rivero hidden inside the barangay hall.
"From the circumstances, the stabbing came first at the back. 'Yong taking could have come before or after, when there was no violence or intimidation on the person," Mingao said in the report. Police also suspect that robbery was a primary motive.
There’s no word from Rivero’s side whether the victim is filing charges but police have filed cases of frustrated murder and theft against the suspect. According to the report, Mingao is hoping that Ruiz would be formally charged in the next two days.
