Critics tell P-Noy to man up and face bad news
(SPOT.ph) Members of the minority rallied on President Noynoy Aquino's earlier statement during the 113th anniversary of the Department of Public Works and Highways last week that some of his Cabinet members are a "burden" and only give him "bad news," reports ABS-CBN News.
In a statement, House Minority Leader Edcel Lagman said: "The reason why the President's leadership and performance are in bad shape is because he refuses to hear bad news. At this time, it is difficult for the President to hear good news because they come sparingly, like comets."
Lagman also advised Aquino to appreciate Cabinet members who are brave enough to tell him bad news so that proper rectifications and reforms would be in order. "Positive responses to bad news are building blocks to good governance," he added.
In an interview with ANC, deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte clarified that the statement was a joke used to highlight the successful work done by Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson, Science Secretary Mario Montejo, and Budget Secretary Butch Abad.
However, Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay countered that the administration only deemed the statement a joke as a means of damage control. She added that Aquino should be man enough to admit there is also bad news in his administration.
