Azkals Neil Etheridge, Anton del Rosario, Simon Greatwich, and Jason Sabio deny rape accusations
(SPOT.ph) A certain Paul Weiler has reportedly accused four members of the Philippine Azkals of raping a woman in the house of team manager Dan Palami, reports ABS-CBN News.
According to ABS-CBN News, the tabloid report has been making its rounds on the internet. The four accused are goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, Anton del Rosario, Simon Greatwich, and Jason Sabio. All four denied the allegations. "I’ve heard a lot of rumors and speculations, that this person (Weiler) is trying to get back at the team because we had a fallout while we were in Germany," said Jason Sabio. "I don’t know the full story, they're all just rumors." Paul Weiler is a German coach who supposedly pushed for the inclusion of Fil-German players Mark Drinkuth and Patrick Herget into the Philippine national team. He was also named president of the Cebu Football Association in 2009.
Del Rosario said that the Azkals’ management is investigating the issue and is figuring out where the rumor came from. Meanwhile, Greatwich said he was disappointed that there were people bringing down the team, especially before an impending match against Kuwait. "We’re trying to focus on the game ahead of us and that's what's more important than anything else," del Rosario added.
