(SPOT.ph) Many mourned the demise of the Leandro Locsin structure that once stood along the sunset strip. Formerly known as The Sheraton, The Savoy, and the Hyatt Regency, the run-down edifice on Roxas Boulevard has been given new life in the form of the Midas Hotel, a hip new boutique hotel that promises to continue and possibly surpass the legacy of excellent service and sophistication of the ones that came before.
Upon entering the chic hotel, guests are greeted with a spacious lobby furnished with luxurious designer furniture from Italy and a cool fiber optic chandelier. Former patrons of the Hyatt Regency and architecture and design fanatics will be glad to know that details of the original structure have been kept, like the original adobe stone pillars in the lobby. The glam vibe extends to the spacious rooms that are filled with comfortable amenities including Egyptian cotton sheets and goose down pillows and mattresses. There's even a floor dedicated to the ladies where women travellers can pamper themselves.
Just recently, the hotel opened the Midas Café, the hotel's all-day dining spot where you can relax and enjoy good food. Run by German culinary expert Hubertus Timmel, the café promises extensive buffet spreads that showcases a variety of delicious dishes from sushi and dimsum choices to hot and cold dishes, breads and desserts, a carving station, a salad bar, and a cheese platter. Other dining facilities include a Japanese restaurant, a bread and pastry corner, and bar. The 227-room hotel is managed by Genesis Hotels and Resorts, the same team behind Bellaroca, Astoria Plaza, Hotel St. Ellis, and Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar.
