UP confirms: Amanda Coling is not an Applied Physics graduate
(SPOT.ph) Amanda Coling, the woman involved in the allegedly Azkals rape scandal, did not graduate with an Applied Physics degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman, reports ABS-CBN News.
During her interview in the GMA show Showbiz Central last Sunday, July 17, Coling introduced herself as a DOST scholar who took up Applied Physics in the state university. In a separate interview with PEP.ph, Coling maintained that she took up a physics degree but admitted that she lasted up to her third year. Jethro Salapare, acting college secretary at the UP College of Science, however, announced on Facebook: "Ms. Wynnel Amanda Coling (Wynnel Joy Coling) is NOT a graduate of ANY degree programs offered by the College of Science, UP Diliman. Thank you."
According to Salapare, Coling did take up physics but only in the first semester of school year 2007-2008. After which, she shifted her major to Library Science. "She (was) a CS student... then transferred to ILIS (Institute of Library and Information Science). Basta wala siyang degree na nakuha sa CS... madami-dami din siyang nakuhang Physics subjects (She did not finish a degree in CS... although she did take up several Physics subjects)." Salapare said he did not know what happened to Coling after she changed her concentration.
