PETA offers P100,000 reward for Pinoy couple who makes animal cruelty erotica
(SPOT.ph) The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) announced in a statement on Tuesday, July 25, that it is offering P100,000 for any information that would lead to the arrest of Victor Ridon and Dorma Ridon-a couple allegedly responsible for producing and selling 68 "crush videos," reports GMA News. A type of erotica, crush videos feature "scantily clad young girls" killing, torturing, and mutilating animals.
PETA stated that the couple used 12- to 18-year-old girls and paid them P100 to P1,000 per video, reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer. The videos featured: rabbits whose ears were cut off or burned alive; dogs which were poked in the eye with a stiletto or burned with a clothes iron, and mice being stepped on until their organs gush out. Each video costs about $80 and customers may request the type of animal to be tortured.
According to an ABS-CBN report, the Ridons will face charges for violating the Animal Welfare Act and the Special Protection of Chldren Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. Buhay party-list Rep. Irwin Tieng already filed House Bill 4595 to criminalize the sale of "crush videos" and other filmed acts of animal cruelty. If passed, violators can be imprisoned for up to seven years and fined up to P300,000, or both.
