(SPOT.ph) A new food haunt has joined the throng of restaurants in the bustling Kapitolyo, Pasig neighborhood. Nav Modern Thai dishes out familiar and traditional Thai flavors while introducing flavorful takes on classic Asian favorites.

 

"I like authentic Thai food but at Nav, we incorporated our take on the traditional Thai flavors," says Francis Lim, one of the partners at the two-month old restaurant on United Street in Kapitolyo, Pasig. Lim-along with partners Marlo Naval and Janus Naval-helm Nav Modern Thai with Lim holding court at the kitchen, helping the staff churn out Thai food staples: the requisite Pad Thai (P280), Crispy Catfish Salad (P245), Green Curry (P240) and Bagoong Rice (P225).

 

The decidedly short menu lists other Thai fare basics, plus Lim also added dishes such as the Lemongrass Pork (P250) and the Yellow Crab Curry, which uses traditional Thai ingredients to create dishes that are totally Nav’s own. Lim’s take on the usual stir-fried dish combines tender pork strips cooked with basil and lemongrass while the Yellow Crab Curry blends the sweet-spicy flavors of yellow curry with succulent crab meat.  Its curry sauce is a hot, yellow pool of sweet and spice that’s just right for the heat seeker. Nav’s twist on the classic Thai Pomelo Salad with Lime Dressing (P300) lies in the spiced chicken, toasted before thrown together with lime sauce. Not a big fan of lip-numbing flavors? Nav can modify heat levels for the spice-timid.

 

Nav also has an extensive bar list which lists rum, vodka, scotch and bourbon for after-dinner drinks. Thai-inspired cocktails are also on the menu for more adventurous post-dinner drinkers.
