GMA allies: Show the former President some compassion
(SPOT.ph) At a healing mass dedicated to the recovery of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo yesterday, August 15, some of her political allies urged the public not to judge the former President so harshly, reports GMA News. Arroyo’s detractors claim that she and her husband Mike Arroyo, who have both been receiving separate medical treatments recently, are faking or exaggerating their illnesses.
"The fact is, whether she’s the President or not, she’s a woman who needs compassion," said former Trade Minister Jose Concepcion Jr. Former Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez echoed Concepcion’s sentiments: "I hope they will undergo the same situation so they will not speak like that. That is so cruel and unfair."
According to ABS-CBN, Arroyo is set to undergo a third spine-related surgery after the first two were "unsuccessful" due to an infection. Meanwhile, former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, who recently made headlines for his alleged involvement in the PNP-chopper scandal, is receiving treatment for a pre-existing heart condition.
