Vatican allows priests to forgive abortion during World Youth Day in Spain

( The Vatican has allowed priests to forgive those admitting to the sin of abortion during the mass confession that will be held tomorrow, August 20, as part of the World Youth Day celebrations in Spain this weekend, reports Reuters.

"This (concession) is to make it easier for the faithful who attend the World Youth Day celebrations to obtain the fruits of divine grace," the Madrid archdiocese said in a statement on its website.

Pope Benedict will hear three confessions before heading a mass to be attended by around 6,000 seminarians. He arrived in Spain yesterday, August 18. The cost of Pope Benedict’s visit sparked protests from the LGBT community, disaffected youths, and even some Spanish priests of the currently economically indigent country.
