Glee spokesperson denies that Charice scenes were cut from the show due to alleged rivalry with Lea Michele
(SPOT.ph) Charice’s lack of scenes in the hit musical series Glee was allegedly due to a rivalry between the singing sensation and the show’s lead star, Lea Michele, reports the New York Post. Charice’s character, Pinoy exchange student Sunshine Corazon, is also reportedly not returning for the show’s third season this September.
A source informed the NY Post: "Charice was signed for a minimum of five episodes and did a press junket with Chord Overstreet (Sam). She had a big debut, but things changed and they didn't put her back in. The word is, Lea is the big star, and producers want to keep her happy." Charice, according to a GMA report, appeared in a total of three episodes.
A Glee spokesperson, however, defended Michele. "Lea is a consummate pro who couldn't be more welcoming of other powerhouse singers on the show, from Kristin Chenoweth to Idina Menzel," the spokesperson said. The same NY Post story also quoted Michele praising the Filipina singer, saying "She's definitely the tiniest ball of talent I've ever seen in my life. Charice is beyond talented!"
It’s a diva-off-Lea Michelle and Charice’s "Telephone" duet in the first episode of Glee Season 2.
