Porn film shoots in US stopped after porn star tests positive for HIV
(SPOT.ph) The Free Speech Coalition, an association that caters to the adult entertainment industry, issued a US-wide moratorium over the weekend to momentarily halt shooting porn movies after an unidentified adult-film actor tested positive for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), reports Reuters.
In a statement, the Coalition said, "The industry has had a successful system of health and safety self-regulation since 1998, despite any misinformation being spread by our opponents." According to the report, the Los Angeles-based clinic that tested most porn actors for HIV shut down recently after filing for bankruptcy. However, the Free Speech Coalition has implemented a health and safety program to take its place.
Meanwhile, Brian Chase, assistant general counsel for the AIDs Healthcare Foundation who is organizing a petition requiring porn actors to wear condoms, noted that the adult-entertainment industry had ignored the California law that mandates the use of condoms for porn stars exchanging bodily fluids through sex.
