Jesus Christ and Jose Rizal talk blasphemy in new Juana Change video
Mae Paner (aka Juana Change) slams the Catholic Church and government officials in this satirical show.
Juana Change asks: "Nabastusan sila dahil sa isang titi?"
(SPOT.ph) How would national hero Jose Rizal and Jesus Christ react to Mideo Cruz’s "blasphemous" art exhibit, "Kulo"? Favorably-according to the latest video of political satirist Mae Paner, more popularly known as Juana Change.
Paner and her posse play outspoken "Kulo" detractors Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, retired Archbishop Oscar Cruz, National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose, and former First Lady and incumbent Ilocos Rep. Imelda Marcos, who summon Rizal and Jesus to a Senate hearing in an attempt to clear the "blasphemy" case once and for all. To the shock of the anti-"Kulo" crew, Rizal likens himself to Cruz and plays the artist card, while Jesus reacts to the supposed sacrilege saying "hindi ako pikon, your honor." The video shifts from make believe to reality and ends with a strong message from Paner that she directs to viewers, parting with images of "ang tunay na kabastusan."
Juana Change is part of an ongoing advocacy campaign for freedom, justice, and good governance using political satire. The artists and activists behind Juana Change upload short videos on YouTube about controvesial political issues.
