PH is top Asian country in Newsweek’s "Best Places to be a Woman" list

Interaksyon.com, citing a survey done by Newsweek in cooperation with The Daily Beast, reports that the Philippines was tagged as the best Asian country for women.

Interaksyon.com, citing a survey done by Newsweek in cooperation with The Daily Beast, reports that the Philippines was  tagged as the best Asian country for women.

 

The Philippines was the top Asian country in the survey, landing 17th overall for its high marks in women’s education, as well as political and economic empowerment. (See the partial list below.) Topped by Scandinavian and North American countries (Iceland was ranked No. 1, followed by Sweden; Canada was third, the United States 8th), the rest of the top 20 were European countries. The Newsweek/The Daily Beast survey analyzed various indicators of165 countries to determine which countries "offer women the most expansive rights and the best quality of life." China (23) and Singapore (37) were the next Asian countries to follow the Philippines in ranking. Vietnam (45) was the only other nation from the continent to break into the Top 50.

 

On scales of 1 to 100, the Philippines got grades of 88.4 in Justice, 92.2 in Education, 89.1 in Economics, and 85.6 in Politics. It scored most poorly in Health, receiving a grade of 57.
