(Updated) 19-year-old UPLB coed murdered, two suspects now in police custody

(UPDATED, October 14, 3:09 p.m.) Last Tuesday, October 11, ABS-CBNNews.com reported that residents found "an unidentified body of a woman" dumped in a canal in Barangay Putho Tuntungin, Los Baños, Laguna.
The report cited Superintendent Dante Novicio, who revealed that the body was found at around 6:30 a.m. near the compound of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). At the time, authorities believed that the slain woman was the victim of a summary execution. The woman had a bullet wound on her forehead and bruises all over her body. Her hands were tied and masking tape covered her mouth.
On October 13, another ABS-CBNews.com report revealed that the slain woman has been identified as Given Grace Cebanico, a 19-year-old UPLB student who was taking up Computer Science.
Inquirer.net reported that the first suspect to be arrested was 38-year-old tricycle driver Percival de Guzman. The other man was identified as Lester Ivan Lopez Rivera, a bank security guard.
As of this afternoon, another ABS-CBNNews.com report revealed that the two suspects are now in police custody. The report had no other details about Rivera’s arrest.
