(SPOT.ph) Dusit Thani Manila's all-day dining restaurant, Basix, is home to the best of Czech cuisine from October 17 to 27, 2011. The 10-day culinary festival, which kicked off this week, highlights the flavors of the postcard-pretty city of Prague and other Czech regions with an assortment of hearty soups and meat-and-potato dishes served with bread dumplings.

Chef Vladimir Salansky, an award-winning chef from Prague, helms the kitchen at Basix for the 10-day foodfest with a spread of traditional Czech dishes including South Bohemian headcheese with spring onions and Czech vinegar, a dish filled with cold cuts made from different kinds of pork meat sprinkled with Czech vinaigrette. Also on the menu: hearty servings of Old bohemian potato soup with forest mushrooms, a sweet and lightly spiced chicken-and-beef broth with carrots, potataoes, broccoli and mushrooms--it’s a dish that you can easily imagine people would like cozying up to during cold winters in the Czech Republic.

Try out the Beef Medallions in Cream Sauce with Bread dumplings and cranberries, a dish usually served during special occasions with grilled juicy filet mignon cuts. This beef dish is traditionally stewed and served with a light cream sauce flaunting subtle sweet tones, and then eaten with bread dumplings: soft, steamed slices of bread that are perfect for mopping up the creamy sauce. "Czech dishes are also eaten with rice or potatoes, but almost always, Czech people will go for bread dumplings," shared Chef Salansky.

Other featured dishes include Piquant beef ghoulash with Carlsbad dumplings, Fried perch with home-made potato salad, and Strawberry dumplings with cottage cheese and cream.

The Czech dishes will be part of the buffet spread at Basix and are available for lunch and dinner until October 27. Buffet rates are priced at P1,600 net for lunch and P1,800 net for dinner.
