Azkals move up eight places in FIFA world rankings, "most improved" according to Elo ratings

Philippine Azkals Online reports that the team has based on the latest FIFA world rankings released yesterday, October 19, the team has moved up from 166th to 158th in the world. The Azakals are fresh off their "surprising second-place finish in the 2011 Long Teng Cup."

Philippine Azkals Online reports that the team has based on the latest FIFA world rankings released yesterday, October 19, the team has moved up from 166th to 158th in the world. The Azakals are fresh off their "surprising second-place finish in the 2011 Long Teng Cup."


The team, which is mentored by coach Michael Weiss, is currently 29th in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) rankings.

GMA News Online also reports that the Azkals are also the most improved team in the world based on the latest football Elo Ratings. The Elo rating system, named after Hungarian-born U.S. Physics professor Arpad Elo, is a method for assessing the relative skill levels of players.
