GMA News Online, citing a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, reports that 4.3 million families (representing one in five households in the Philippines or 21.5 percent) claim they experienced having nothing to eat in the last three months.

GMA News Online, citing a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, reports that 4.3 million families (representing one in five households in the Philippines or 21.5 percent) claim they experienced having nothing to eat in the last three months.

The results of the suvey are culled from the nationwide poll that SWS conducted in September. There were 1,200 adult respondents.

SWS said that the hunger percentage was 7.5 points more than the 13-year average of 14 percent-and the worst so far for President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III’s  administration. However, SWS pointed out that the dismal number is still below the 24 percent recorded in December 2009 during the Arroyo administration.
