ABS-CBNNews.com reports that eight people were arrested on Monday night (November 1) for participating in an impromptu gay beauty pageant inside the Manila North Cemetery. Some of those who were arrested claimed they have been holding the event every All Saints’ Day. Other participants managed to flee.

According to the report, more than 100 people gathered to watch the "scantily-clad" pageant contestants dance on top of tombs.  The crowd presumably got rowdy so security volunteers came to disperse the group.

Police said the arrested suspects (whose names were withheld) for "desecrating the dead and disturbing other visitors at the cemetery." The suspects, who are under the custody of the Manila Police District, will face charges of alarm and scandal and desecration of the dead.
