Pinoy doctors insulted by claims of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s camp

Last week, Interaksyon.com reported that Quezon Representative Danilo Suarez, an ally of Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, said that the former president "needs a bone biopsy to find the cause and solution to her rare bone disorder, a procedure that could only be done abroad."

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that members of the Philippine Medical Associated felt "insulted" by the said statement. Dr. Leo Olarrte, PMA’s governor for Manila, said that there are over 100 specialists in the country who can treat Arroyo’s "metabolic bone disorder."

Department of Health Secretary Enrique Ona and Department of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima have said that Arroyo could seek treatment in the Philippines and doesn’t need to go abroad. However, Arroyo’s spokesperson Lena Bautista-Horn stated, "I challenge them to give us the name of a metabolic bone biopsy specialist or someone who can treat (metabolic bone disorder) in the Philippines then we will do it here."
