Makati fires up anti-drunk driving campaign
Interaksyon.com, via a Philippine News Agency article, reports that Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin S. Binay strengthened the city’s campaign against drunk driving. He signed a covenant, called "Join the Pact," with Formula One Double World Champion Mika Hakkinen "for the global advocacy on responsible drinking and driving to protect lives and property."

According to the report, "Under the (amended Makati City Traffic Code), drunk drivers or driving a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs will be meted with P2,500 fine and/or imprisonment and impounding for the first offense. This will also include recommendation of suspension or revocation of driver's license."
