ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Dr. Gonzalo Roman, president of the Philippine Society of Pathologists, said that that Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal’s bone biopsy can definitely be done in the country. The report described the PSP as "a [specialists’] group of the Philippine Medical Association."

Roman explained that while no patient has undergone a bone biopsy with double tetracycline labeling in the country, they have two bone experts at the Philippine General Hospital and the National Orthopedic Hospital who can perform the procedure. However, he pointed out that doctors don’t recommend the tetracycline labeling bone biopsy since "there are non-invasive alternatives that can produce the same results."

Roman said, "Hindi siya routinely ginagawa dito. (It’s not routinely done here.) But if they want, what we can do is do a biopsy dito, and send the sample to Germany or Singapore. For this particular procedure, because it’s not an everyday procedure, [it’s not done]. But for most common biopsies, kayang-kaya natin (we can do it)."
