Journal Online reports that TV host-actress Kris Aquino expressed support for her brother President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, who has gotten flak for attending a Christmas party while tropical storm Sendong unleashed its fury in Mindanao. The said party, which was held on Sunday (December 18)  was for the members of the Presidential Security Group.

The president was really planning to go to CDO. You know, when you’re president, you can’t just do things without planning. But I heard the PSG and the PMS talking about what needs to be done)."

She added, "Ngayon, ’yun namang party ay matagal nang naka-schedule ’yun. Siyempre, may mga masasamang nangyayari at may malungkot but then, life should go on. Hindi naman pwedeng huminto na lang ang buhay at magmukmok na lang tayo (That party was scheduled way ahead. Yes, bad things may happen and we feel sad, but then life should go on. We can’t just drop everything and be melancholy)."

Meanhwile, an ABS-CBNNews.com report quoted presidential spokesperson Atty. Edwin Lacierda, who explained, "The president stayed only for a few minutes (at the party) in deference to the Mindanao flood. He did not sing. He just sat and watched for a few minutes the party and he left immediately. The president was very well aware. [When] he dropped by in that particular Christmas party of the PSG, he immediately informed the head of the PSG, Colonel Chito Dizon, that he was just dropping by to say hello to the family members.
