P-Noy on prosecution team’s performance in Corona impeachment trial: "I think they have done really well"

Philstar.com reports that President Noynoy Aquino-in a chance interview last Friday, February 24,  at Trece Martires, Cavite-revealed that he is pleased by the peformance of House prosecutors in Chief Justice Renato Corona’s impeachment trial. Rep. Niel Tupas Jr. is the lead prosecutor.

The report quoted Aquino, who said, "I think the prosecutors have done really well. They have managed to unearth other alleged properties that are not part of the statement of assets, liabilities and net worth."

The president added that what the prosecution panel unearthed is "significantly different from the statement records in the SALN (of Corona)" and confirmed by the testimony of several bank executives." He pointed out: "On that basis, given the difficulties (of their job) the presumption that they did not study the SALN would have been valid if it had been made public." He emphasized that the aforementioned violation alone "would qualify a conviction for Corona."
