Pinays told to be wary of "dating websites," PDEA says drug syndicates use them to recruit drug mules

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Thursday, March 15, "warned Filipinas joining dating websites against African drug syndicates who may be using them in their operations."

The report quoted PDEA Director Jeoffrey Tacio, who said, "Pag nag-asawa sila, nagiging recruiters na din sila. 'Yung mga dating couriers, nag-elevate sila nagiging recruiters sila (When the Pinays end up marrying the foreigners they meet via the website, they also get involved in recruiting drug mules. Those women who served as couriers get elevated to being recruiters)."

 

The report noted: "According to PDEA, 33 members of African drug syndicates have been arrested from 2010 to March this year."
