Filipina Jasmine Lee wins seat in South Korean parliament

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Filipina Jasmine Lee, a Davao native who has made a name as a TV host and actress in South Korea, has been elected as a lawmaker in her adopted country’s parliament. Thus, the report pointed out, Lee is "the first naturalized Korean to win a seat in the National Assembly."

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Filipina Jasmine Lee, a Davao native who has made a name as a TV host and actress in South Korea, has been elected as a lawmaker in her adopted country’s parliament. Thus, the report pointed out, Lee is "the first naturalized Korean to win a seat in the National Assembly."

 

The report noted that the 35-year-old Lee was a candidate for proportional representation for the ruling Saenuri Party, which won a majority of 152 seats in the 300-strong assembly. Lee is a widow, as her Korean husband died in 2010.
