Mt. Pinatubo included in TIME magazine’s "Top 10 Fiery Volcanoes in Recorded Human History" list

Philstar.com reports that in the latest issue of TIME magazine, the Philippines’ Mount Pinatubo, which erupted in 1991, was named one of the "Top 10 Fiery Volcanoes in Recorded Human History."

Philstar.com reports that in the latest issue of TIME magazine, the Philippines’ Mount Pinatubo, which erupted in 1991, was named one of the "Top 10 Fiery Volcanoes in Recorded Human History." The report did not indicate if the list was ranked or if it was a plain chronological enumeration.

 

Philstar.com revealed that, along with Mt. Pinatubo, the following volcanoes were also included in the TIME list:

 

  • Mount Vesuvius (79 AD)
  • Krakatoa (1883)
  • Mount St. Helens (1980)
  • Mount Tambora (1815)
  • Mauna Loa (erupted many times, the latest in 1984)
  • Eyjafjallajkull (2010)
  • Mount Pele (1902)
  • Thera (estimated to have occurred in the mid second millennium BC)
  • Nevado del Ruiz (erupted many times, the latest in 1994 and may erupt again this year)
