(SPOT.ph) At a media event for Greenwich Spaghetti Supreme attended by SPOT.ph on Wednesday, May 2, at SM Megamall, actresses and brand endorsers Anne Curtis and Solenn Heusaff aired their opinions on the decision of the Miss Universe Organization to open its doors to transgenders.

"Miss Universe started a long time ago," Solenn said, "and they [transgenders] can have their own pageant. Like a Miss Universe Transgender."

"Hello, they deserve their own pageant!" Anne added. "Iba sila mangabog! (They have their own style.) I mean, iba sila. (They’re different.) All over the world, in any country you go-that’s what I’m excited [about]! A representative of Thailand, a representative of the Philippines... if you see them, they’re super-duper beautiful."

Last April 10, the Miss Universe Organization decided to open the historic beauty pageant to transgenders, provoking a wide variety of responses, including tweets and statements by former beauty queens Miriam Quiambao and Gloria Diaz.

A currently running poll on SPOT.ph reveals that an overwhelming majority of readers disagree with the decision.
