Minimum jeepney fare in NCR, Regions II, III and IV back to P8

GMA News Online reports that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) withdrew a 50-centavo fare hike for jeep drivers in the wake of the recent rollback in oil prices. LTFRB board member Manuel Iway said they had made it clear the provisional fare hike would be withdrawn once diesel prices fall below P45 per liter. The fare adjustment takes effect Tuesday, May 15.

The fare adjustment takes effect Tuesday, May 15.


A Manila Bulletin report said areas affected by the fare adjustment are the National Capital Region and Regions II, III, and IV.


The fare rollback is particularly expected to benefit students who will start returning to school for the new academic year starting June 4, the GMA News Online report said.
