Senate gives Chief Justice Renato Corona May 25 deadline to continue his testimony

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that "Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile has given defense team the chance to present Chief Justice Renato Corona, who is still in the hospital, until 2 p.m., Friday (May 25) to continue his testimony."

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that "Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile has given defense team the chance to present Chief Justice Renato Corona, who is still in the hospital, until 2 p.m., Friday (May 25) to continue his testimony." Enrile also said that the Senate "may decide on the Corona impeachment case on Tuesday, May 29."

 

The report noted: "Enrile set the oral arguments for both parties on Monday. Both will be given an hour each to present their case. This means the prosecution will no longer provide any rebuttal evidence."

 

Meanwhile, the defense team’s lead counsel Atty. Serafin Cuevas, said that Corona’s physical and mental situation in question. The report quoted Cuevas, who said, "We have no objection if a Senate doctor conducts [an examination] and submits a report. We acknowledge the magnanimity and the over-liberality [of the Senate] in accommodating us, but the issue now is medical."
