Reuters, via InterAksyon.com, reports that boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. "was booked into a Las Vegas jail on Friday (June 1, Las Vegas time) to serve a 90-day sentence for domestic violence against an ex-girlfriend, a term that was previously postponed so the welterweight fighter could compete in a bout."

The report noted: "Mayweather, a flamboyant athlete regarded as the best defensive boxer of his generation, was issued standard dark blue prison garb and slippers and will be kept apart from the jail's general population of more than 3,000 other inmates."

While many fans are still hopeful that Mayweather Jr. will eventuall face Pinoy boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, others have already concluded that the epic smackdown between the two fighters may never happen. This latest stumbling block (Mayweather’s prison stint) is yet another obstacle that has gotten in the way of the fight’s chances of ever materializing.
