Pinay ballerina awarded top prize in Helsinki International Ballet Competition

GMA News Online reports that Filipina Candice Adea won first prize in the senior women's division of the Helsinki International Ballet Competition, "one of the world’s most prestigious ballet competitions." Adea is a principal dancer of Ballet Philippines.

GMA News Online reports that Filipina Candice Adea won first prize in the senior women's division of the Helsinki International Ballet Competition, "one of the world’s most prestigious ballet competitions." Adea is a principal dancer of Ballet Philippines.


The report also revealed that "the competition drew 69 dancers from 28 countries, including the United States, China, Japan, Finland, Canada, Italy, and Cuba, among others." Adea’s partner and fellow Ballet Philippines principal dancer Jean Marc Cordero was also a semi-finalist in the competition. He won a Special Jury Award for Best in Pas de Deux Technique (partnering).
