Koko Pimentel leaves Erap-Binay political party, protests Migz Zubiri’s inclusion in 2013 senatorial slate

InterAksyon.com reports that on Thursday, June 28, Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III "formally announced his decision to bolt the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA)."

InterAksyon.com reports that on Thursday, June 28, Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III "formally announced his decision to bolt the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA)." UNA is the coalition spawned by the "marriage" of  former President Joseph Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP)  and Vice President Jejomar Binay’s Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

 

The report noted that "Pimentel announced his departure after UNA decided to keep Juan Miguel ’Migz’ Zubiri on its senatorial slate for the 2013 elections." According to the report, Pimentel said he had consulted Estrada before he finalized his decision. InterAksyon.com quoted Pimentel, who said, "Galing ako sa bahay ni Erap (I came from Erap’s house), and I said, ’Sorry, Ninong,’ and we talked a little. But the former president did not make any effort to stop me."
