ABS-CBNNews.com reports that in an ANC interview, Senator Franklin Drilon said that he "never called Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay a ’fake Magsaysay’ because he merely announced that the Liberal Party has picked former senator Ramon "Jun" Magsaysay Jr. to be in its senatorial line-up  in the 2013 elections." Drilon explained, "I never called Mitos a fake Magsaysay. What I said was I endorse the son of former President Ramon Magsaysay Sr.. Ang tunay na Magsaysay (The real Magsaysay), Ramon Magsaysay Jr. That’s all I said."

However, Mitos Magsaysay, who is one of the United Nationalist Alliance’s Senate bets for the 2013 polls, said, "The remark of Senator Drilon about the ’fake’ Magsaysay is an affront to all married women. It just shows how low he regards his wife and sister-in-law."
