Boracay tourist arrivals up by 41% in first half of 2012, despite cancellation of bookings from China

InterAksyon.com, citing Caticlan Jetty port administrator Niven Maquirang’s statement, reports that the number of Boracay tourists "has already exceeded the 700,000 mark starting from the month of January up to June this year, up by 41 percent compared for the same period in year 2011."

The report further quoted Maquirang, who also revealed that "despite the cancellation of bookings from China, the record still manifest a big influx of Chinese tourist coming to the island resort with 1,227 arrivals from that country this year." The report noted that Maquirang was confident that "Boracay would surpass its target of one million tourist arrivals this year."
