On Friday night, July 13, talent manager Annabelle Rama caused a scene at the wake of Comedy King Dolphy when she reportedly went after showbiz reporter Chito Alcid. PEP.ph reported that some witnesses revealed that Rama had gone after Alcid with a "sharp object." The incident happened in one of the rooms at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City.

The PEP.ph report revealed that Rama and Alcid have pre-existing tension between them. Alcid is among those that Rama charged with libel in Cebu on June 28. The other people Rama had charged were Amalia Fuentes and Nadia Montenegro. It was because Alcid had allgedly written bad things about Rama and her family.

In any case, Rama, in another PEP.ph report said that Alcid had "provoked" her. Rama explained why she had gone after Alcid: "Hindi, kasi self-defense 'yon. Kasi nakita ko, parang hahampasin niya ako do'n sa dala-dala niyang ano, parang iPad. So, nang alam kong hahampasin na niya ako, naghanap na ako ng mahahawakan ko. E, nakita ko 'yong baston, hahampasin ko sana siya, tumakbo na siya, hindi na ako nahampas ng iPad sa mukha ko. Kasi naman, siyempre I have to protect my face also (It was self-defense. It was because I saw that he was moving towards me to hit me with what looked like an iPad. So, I saw a cane and grabbed it and I was going to hit him with it. He saw me grab the cane so he backed off and ran away. He didn’t get to hit my face with the iPad. Because, you know, I have to protect my face also)." For his part, Alcid, in a separate PEP.ph report, claimed that it was Rama who had made the first hostile move.

Rama later apologized to Dolphy’s family for what had happened. Director Eric Quizon, in an interview with TV5, graciously accepted Rama’s apology and joked that if Dolphy were alive, he would say, "Naku, ang Tita Annabelle mo talaga, oo." Quizon, however, said that he wished the Rama-Alcid fracas hadn’t happened at the wake. Rama went on to attend Dolphy’s July 15 funeral.
