15 pawikans rescued from poachers in Palawan

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Department of Environment and Natural Resources authorities, acting on information from the Philippine Navy, "rescued 15 sea turtles (pawikans) from suspected Chinese poachers in Brgy. Catagupan, Balabac, Palawan on Saturday morning, July 14."

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) authorities, acting on information from the Philippine Navy, "rescued 15 sea turtles (pawikans) from suspected Chinese poachers in Brgy. Catagupan, Balabac, Palawan on Saturday morning, July 14."

 

The report noted: "The sea turtles reportedly weighed 50 to 70 kilos each and are estimated to cost not less than P5,000 each."
