Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo asks bishops to pray for her, says she’s seeking "divine guidance" as she faces new plunder charges

Evelyn Macairan of The Philippine Star reports that during the July 17 forum of the Catholic Media Network (CMN) held in Intramuros former president and current Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s lawyer Atty. Anacleto Diaz told the bishops in attendance: "I was asked by the President to attend this forum to make a plea to the bishops to please help her pray for courage. Courage to accept the things she could no longer change."

Courage to accept the things she could no longer change." Diaz added that "Arroyo is also asking the bishops for divine guidance in the face of the spate of lawsuits filed against her."

 

The report noted that Arroyo "is now facing plunder charges before the Sandiganbayan over her involvement in the fund mess of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)." She remains under hospital detention at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City "while facing a non-bailable offense of electoral sabotage before the Pasay City regional trial court."
