ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Atty. Simplicio Abong-who works for the Commission on Human Rights (CHR)-"is in critical condition after being shot allegedly by a tricycle driver in Quezon City on at around 7 p.m. on Thursday night, July 26."
The report noted that Abong "was inside his pick-up truck when he was shot thrice in Barangay Manresa." The report added that "before undergoing an operation, Abong was able to tell the police that tricycle driver Jerwin Escalante was the one who shot him." It was revealed that "Abong’s relatives said the group of Escalante had a previous altercation with the lawyer."
