(SPOT.ph) There’s nothing quite like the sight of a pack of gourmands running amok in a food market, frantic over what to try first, what to taste next, how to balance 10 platters on two arms, and figuring out where that sweet-spicy smell’s coming from.
Such is the picture you’d find in Mezza Norte, the latest weekend food market pulled together by the same folks responsible for Bonifacio Global City’s Mercato Centrale. Mezza which is Italian for "half" is located at the heart of the UP-Ayalaland Technohub along Commonwealth-much to the delight of Northerners, who’ll now only need to travel a few minutes to this new buffet.
Though slightly smaller and with considerably less seating space than Mercato-there’s only one tent to hold everything here-there’s definitely no shortage of the affordable and usually homemade cuisine we’ve come to anticipate from weekend markets. Co-organizer RJ Ledesma explains, "There are a lot of great up-and-coming food entrepreneurs over here, and we want to give them an opportunity to shine in the market."
As we squeezed our way through the hungry crowd at Mezza Norte’s launch on July 26, we were delighted to learn that our old Mercato favorites as well as some curious new ones have been drafted to open up north. Check out our food finds by clicking below:
