InterAksyon.com, citing information from the Philippine News Agency, reports that according to the survey conducted by Catholic prelates in their different dioceses "around 140 lawmakers will vote against the controversial Reproductive Health (RH) Bill."

The report quoted Antipolo Bishop Gabriel Reyes, chairman of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Family and Life (CBCP-ECFL), who said, "This survey ended this July. Out of the 85 dioceses in the Philippines, 77 (bishops) answered. In this 77 dioceses, 215 congressmen were surveyed by the bishops themselves and out of that number, 49 will vote yes to the RH bill, 140 will vote no, and 36 are undecided.
We are very happy about that. We just hope they (anti-RH lawmakers) won't change their stand." Reyes made the revelation during a "church-organized forum in Manila" on Tuesday, July 31.

In an Inquirer.net report on the same issue, it was noted that "there are 285 district and party-list representatives in the House." Naturally, a majority vote is needed for a bill to be passed. The report added: "The CBCP is hoping that the undecided lawmakers will be swayed to go against the bill before the August 7 vote on the proposal. The CBCP is launching a Mass prayer rally at the Edsa shrine on Saturday, August 4. It also plans to hold a vigil at the House on the eve of the vote."
