Landslide in Barangay Commonwealth kills 2, more feared dead

Philstar.com reports that two people have been confirmed killed in a landslide (caused by persistent heavy rain and flooding) that happened at around 7 a.m. today, August 7, at Bayanihan Road, Barangay Commonwealth in Quezon City.

Philstar.com reports that two people have been confirmed killed in a landslide (caused by persistent heavy rain and flooding) that happened at around 7 a.m. today, August 7, at Bayanihan Road, Barangay Commonwealth in Quezon City.  An Inquirer.net report added that the location is "near the vicinity of Litex Road going towards the Payatas dumpsite."

 

The Philstar.com report revealed that one of the fatalities was identified as Jethro Baylon. The report noted that "at least four homes were buried by the landslide." Baylon’s eight other family members-among them his five children-were still "trapped under a thick pile of mud as of 12:30 p.m." Rescue teams are still trying to locate them.
