Female dentist overpowered by carjackers on EDSA in broad daylight

Reinir Padua of The Philippine Star reports that at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, a dentist named Mary Agnes Joyce Valdez was overpowered by carjackers as she drove "a dark green Toyota Revo (WHV-167) on her way to her clinic." She said that "around seven men blocked her path on the southbound lane of EDSA."

The report, citing information from Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega, revealed that the car "was found abandoned along Katipunan Avenue near its intersection with P. Tuazon Boulevard at around 9:20 a.m." Dela Vega explained: "When the  Revo was abandoned, she (dentist ) was led to a (still unidentified) getaway vehicle and she was dropped at FTI (in Taguig)." QCPD deputy director Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao added that "Valdez lost P10,000 to the armed men, who had long firearms and bandoliers."

 

The report noted that the carjacking on EDSA was actually "witnessed by policemen in the area, who immediately raised the alarm on the vehicle."
